Each year, more than 440,000 children experience foster care in the United States. In Nebraska alone there are nearly 4000 youth who find themselves in a position of needing a foster family. They range from infants to 18 years old. Children are removed from their home and placed into care for a number of reasons including abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Often they are placed in the foster care system with only the clothes on their back. Removal from their homes can lead to trauma, embarrassment, and feelings of insecurity.
Foster Love was meant for these children who have been uprooted from their homes and are under difficult circumstances. We want to support them by providing them with high quality basic needs that nurture dignity in a welcoming and loving space where they feel confident and comfortable.
These children are all over Nebraska and in our communities. Schools. Churches. Neighborhoods. Teams. They are part of our very own families. We owe it to these children to show up for them in their time of great need.
THAT’S WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO!
Starting January 2022 we will be following a set schedule for our Artsy Kids classes (which includes shopping and dinner) and Shopping Days. There will be times when adjustments need to be made because of other events so make sure to reach out if you have any questions.
Artsy Kids: 1st Thursday of the month (5:30-7:30pm)
Shopping Day: 3rd Saturday of the month (9:00-12:00pm)
Shopping Day: 4th Thursday of the month (3:00-6:00pm)
Shopping Days are for children to shop the latest trends so they feel confident, empowered, and valued and to support foster families. Our goal is for children to walk away feeling a bit more confident in who they are. Everything we do is free of cost.
A small change to our processes for 2022 - we are implementing a sign up sheet for all events. Some of you are familiar with this form/process, but we wanted everyone to know why we are making this shift. Here are a few reasons:
1. The boutique is a small intimate space and by signing up we can monitor and maintain the flow better and ensure a special experience for every kiddo.
2. By streamlining this process, check-in at the boutique will be more efficient and thus more shopping can be done.
3. We are always striving to expand our services and programs and the more data we can collect, the more data we can share in grants and with potential funders.
Families, please pick one date and one time slot per month but please make sure you register and get a ticket for all children in your home who would like to shop. If you are a first time shopper please bring proof of placement paperwork to your first shopping event.

If your children are medically fragile or you don't feel comfortable bringing them, we understand, foster parents are still welcome to shop. If children want to be involved in picking out their clothes - we'd love for them to join in on the experience!
